New Jersey Department of Human Services’ Commissioner Dr. Stephen Cha; Deputy Commissioner, Aging and Disability Services Kaylee McGuire; and Senior Policy Advisor Jack Teters spent a “day in the life” of a PACE participant on May 19 at BoldAge PACE in Oceanport, NJ. Meaningful conversations with PACE participants revealed how PACE has been life-changing for them because of the coordinated care and services and the regular social connections offered through PACE. For many, PACE has prevented an inevitable admission to a nursing home or multiple hospital admissions and instead supported independence, dignity and grace for their life in the community. The Association shared with the Human Services leaders the need for closer collaboration to support the growth and reinvestment in PACE to ensure a sustainable future and serve more New Jerseyans. We thank Dr. Cha and his team for their time and intentional engagement and look forward to all we can achieve together in the years ahead.
